Russian National cardiology congress,

7-9 October 2008

 

Russian national cardiology congress was held 7-9 October 2008 in Moscow.

            Congress organizers: Ministry of health and social development, Society of cardiology of Russian Federation, State research centre for preventive medicine.

Congress Co-chairmen – Professor Skvortsova, deputy minister of health; Professor Chazov.

During the last 8 years Congress was the most prominent all-Russian research event of specialists, working in cardiology.  More then 3500 registered delegates took part in the congress events, including more then 200 participants from former Soviet Union Republics (Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and other), for the first time more then 80 foreign participants visited congress (Greece, Israel, Turkey).

High scientific and educational level was provided by participation of leading Russian and foreign experts. Plenary session included the reports of such outstanding researchers as Professor Oganov (Russia), Professor Ferrari (Italy, ESC) and professor Oganov.  

-         The main research topics were: fundamental studies in cardiology, new medical technologies in cardiology, new approaches in treatment of cardiovascular diseases, interventional cardiology, surgical methods of treatment in cardiology, rehabilitation of patients with cardiovascular diseases, prevention of cardiovascular diseases, improvement of cardiology services.

 

On the closing ceremony Society of Cardiology of the Russian Federation signed the European Heart Health Charter and calls other Medical associations and organization to do the same.

The main highlights of the Congress included the paradigm  cardiometabolic risk  and interventions, improving this risk;  result of the most important last international trials; approaches to primary and secondary prevention.

Congress organization committee published: scientific program; abstract book, included 1068 abstracts; exhibition catalog. All stages of congress preparations and its program were described on the officinal  web-site www.cardiosite.ru.

Congress scientific program included: 2 plenary sections, 58 scientific symposiums, 10 scientific sections, 5 lectures, scientific seminar, educational forum, interactive discussion, poster sessions (3 дня), young researchers competition. Congress scientific program reflected the last achievements and actual problems of cardiology. As many years before congress scientific attracted the great interest in many medical specialists.

Forty two cardiologists younger then 35 years took part in Young researchers competition, they arrived from different Russian cities (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan). The winners received diplomas and presents. 

Congress included the exhibition of foreign and native treatments, devices, information technologies and medical literature. Its unique feature was the close link with scientific program and possibility to receive the objective information about clinical efficiency of new drugs.  Exhebition included 70 exhibitors and publishers ofmedical literature 

For the first time representatives of European Society of cardiology took part in Russian National Cardiology congress. Isabelle Collin and Gordon Lamgmann worked with the representatives of Russian Society of Cardiology on the Joint stand. The main purposes of this joint stand were reinforcement of the integration of Russian Society in the activity of ESC, initiation of new educational and research projects,   English-speaking delegates have the unique opportunity to communicate with the representatives of European Society of cardiology on the all questions in which they are interested in (fellowship, membership and so on). 

On the plenary session the Following new giudelines of The Society of cardiology of the Russian Federation were approved:

  1. «Guidelines on hypertension treatment (third revision)».

2. «Guidelines on diagnostics, treatment and prevention of arterial hypertension in children and adolescents  (second revision)».

3.      «Guidelines on diagnostics and treatment of angina (second revision)».

4.      «Russian guidelines on percutaneous coronary artery interventions (Project)"

5.      «Guidelines on renal function assessment in patients with cardiovascular diseases and high risk».
